Sundays are good and bad. It’s the backside of (most of our) two days of freedom. It is also scary close to Monday. Scary close. Just minutes separate them. It’s true! I checked it out. There is a place I like to go to relax before that Monday wave washes over me. It’s a secret spot, situated in the center of town, called the University of Texas.
Texas Star Nachos with refried black beans. Can’t go wrong with that. My better half prefers them sans carne. Guacamole, Sour Cream, shredded Iceberg lettuce and a silent prayer that a sunny Sunday afternoon will never end.
The inevitable is an alarm clock away. The only snooze button in sight is something they will only let you do twice in one sitting. Our standard order for the Mexican Martini (snooze button reference) is Herradura Silver and Cointreau. Toss the olives and lime back in the shaker. When you pour, twist the strainer screen foot towards your glass. The spill rate is much lower this way. Big shout out to Cole for helping us out this afternoon.
Top Shelf Mexican Martini : $12.50, Texas Star Nachos : $6.95
Trudy’s : 409 West 30th St. Austin, TX : (512) 477-2935
Are those proper, individual nachos?
I haven’t been to Trudy’s in a long time – it’s too crowded, always. Hmmmm. Nachos.
