Restaurant Review: Frank

Frank's Hot Dogs and Beer

I just got Franked. Again. It’s almost silly to say that they moved into the old Starlight space because it feels more like their own now. Gotta dig that modified “Come and Take It” print over the bar. Frank’s original three-prong attack is still in place: dogs, coffee and general store. Coffee seems to be moving front and center as Tyler Wells, their Barista, just placed regionally and is headed to the United States Barista Championship April 15-18 in Anaheim, CA.

Frank Texalina

I ordered up a Texalina ($7). Many dogs hit you over the head to get your attention. Scouring your tongue with astringent mustards and inflaming your mouth with incendiary wieners. (You are correct. I just played the ‘incendiary wiener’ card.) The Texalina had restraint with a good flavor balance. A nicely spiced sausage, grilled Cole Slaw, Carolina BBQ sauce and White Cheddar cheese. Frank now offers vegetarian options, too. And, I can’t wait till the seafood sausage pops back up on the menu.
