It’s been a while since I checked the compost bins at Eastside Cafe. What a better time to check that off my list than at tonight’s Slow Food Happy Hour. The bins are on the side of the massive garden, next to the restaurant, that Carla Blumberg started in 1982. That Carla was a trooper. She started the garden with organic compost that she hauled in all the way from her farm in Bertram. The fruits of that labor now help fuel Eastside Cafe’s restaurant kitchen.
