Head out to Blanco this weekend for the Lavender Festival. You know the routine. Lavender market around the Blanco square, tours of the lavender farms, end up at Blanco Bowling Club, covered in chocolate meringue, wondering how much a cab ride back to Austin would cost.

What I Learned About Criminals
Their life started and ended probably the same way, with a crappy plate of food. Do Cheese Puffs create mass murders? I’m not saying they do, but #6 in the lineup may have some Stay Puft issues. From my unofficial survey, most criminals should perish in their 40’s from consumption of Kentucky Fried Chicken alone. Top death row meals: KFC 12 piece bucket, Kool-Aid, Cheese Doodles, Coca-Cola, Pizza. PIZZA! Crap! I’m not saying pizza is a gateway to crime, I’m just saying I’m innocent and I need a lawyer.

Want to learn how to make the best pizza in Austin? The Austin Food Journal is now offering a pizza workshop, “Serious Pizza Class.” True Neapolitan style pizza. The same pies that we have been making, eating and feeding our guests during our semi-monthly Pizza Nights. Kick-ass, righteous pizza guaranteed.
Attendees will walk away with printed recipes and topping suggestions, sample dough to try at home and the skills to make classic Italian pizza. Next class is May 8th, 1 – 4pm. Tickets are $75 per person.
