Update: Farmers Markets

San Miguel Seafood

Just because it’s cold out doesn’t mean the farmers’ markets aren’t jumping. Roberto and Ross of San Miguel Seafood at the Austin Farmers’ Market Downtown have Albacore Tuna from the gulf. It’s a white flesh tuna that we don’t see too often ($16/lb). Also, Gulf Flounder is back ($12/lb) and as always Shrimp and Snapper . I love me some Gulf seafood!

French Breakfast Radish

We are reaching end of the season for French Breakfast Radishes. Springfield Farm (Moulton, TX) still has them ($2/bundle), great for pickling. Just look at them, they are blinding! It’s stupid how awesome they look. Get them at the Austin Farmers’ Market on Saturdays, also.

Fresh Lemon Cheese

Blake and Skyler of Elevated Artisanal Foods have expanded their soups: Cauliflower with Prosciutto and Parmesan, Roasted Beet and a Four Onion Soup. Get them hot or cold ($5). Don’t forget about their fresh Lemon Cheese and Cranberry Terrine. Friday at Bastrop, Saturday at Sunset Valley and HOPE on Sunday.

Low on Duck bacon? Law and Lee Ann of Kocurek Family Charcuterie got you covered. Duck Rillettes, Pate de Maison, Pate de Campagne, Butternut Squash & Sage Sausage, Sweet Roasted Garlic Sausage, Hand-cut Pork Bacon, Duck “Bacon”, English Style Game Pie, Smoked Pork Belly. Prices range from $4 – $8. They are at Sunset on Saturdays and HOPE on Sundays.

There seem to be a healthy rash of Charcuterie, cheese and soup vendors cropping up all over town. I couldn’t be more stoked.
