Drop Dead Sexy

This is the best looking piece of cheese I have ever seen. It tastes pretty good, too. Like, slap your mom good. Lie to your best friend good. Humboldt Fog ($22.95 /lb.) is creamy and tangy, but not overly aggressive. What’s up with that line in the middle? Goats can only give so much (you have probably been told that before). As the story goes, in the morning they would have enough milk to make half a round of cheese. They would cover the work in progress with ash so a cap wouldn’t form. The second layer would be produced from the evening milking.

Humboldt Fog is product of Cypress Grove. Mary Keehn started the company for the right reasons. Upon finding that her kids were allergic to cow’s milk, she did what any responsible parent would do. She bought a goat so she could make cheese for her kids. It was going so well she got a second goat. And then, goats do what goats do when your not looking, they make their own kids. The cheese making continued and the awards followed. Long story short, Cypress Grove is one of the finest artisanal cheese makers in the country and I am crazy for their Humboldt Fog. Try a sample at the Antonelli’s Cheese Shop and tell me if I’m lying.

  1. We got a spread of ten cheeses for Valentines Day, because I think cheese and love are synonymous. The Humboldt Fog was my favorite!!! It was absolutely divine and I was thrilled to see it highlighted here.
