Everybody is different. And, just like art, pizza is subjective. But, I am having trouble recommending places around town for people to try a good pie. Don’t get me wrong, there is good pizza around: House Pizza, Salvation, Home Slice to name a few. I don’t know if anyone has checked lately, but Austin is the 15th largest city in the country. We are emerging as a food force to be reckoned with on the national stage. If we stacked all the food trailers together, they would reach the moon (approximately). Sushi, creative Mexican, the local movement and even hot dogs are ripping up the scene. Hell, I hear that there are a few BBQ places of note. Can a brother get some more pizza options? Artisanal, Napolitano, Haute Cuisine? Why isn’t anyone pushing the envelope?

We like The Grove and North for pizza.
I want Uchi level pizza. Pizza Bianco in Phoenix, A16 in SF. And don’t say Parkside’s new place. I believe it when I eat it.
Just do it!
I was really digging Mandola’s pies for a while but I’ve been off of Mandola’s for a while. I noticed they started “Americanizing” their food more. They used to serve their sandwiches on this awesome super crusty bread but now it’s all soft just like the “Italian” bread in the grocery stores down here. Coming from NY I miss the fantastic Italian deli/bakeries that were on every corner 🙁
I agree that Home Slice rocks! I used to like the pizza at Pizzaria Corvina in RR until they closed 🙁 Have you tried Brooklyn Pizza Co. in RR?
I’ve been really impressed with the pizza at Enoteca Vespiao!
Not Uchi pizza, but pizza with heart (and good flavor): Giovanni’s, in the Valero gas station at Lamar and Barton Skyway. Probably my favorite in town – other than yours, of course.
