Sure, you get them free at Chuy’s (and every other stock TexMex place in town (not that that is a bad thing)). And, you have to pay for them at La Condesa ($4 with some awesome, scratch made salsas) and at Roaring Fork ($9 with haphazard salsa and cruddy cheese over a delinquent candle). But, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take it on to perfect the fry-alated arts on your own.
Central Market makes wicked good corn and flour tortillas every morning. Fry them up yourself and make the world a grander place by your contribution. It doesn’t take much time or special equipment. It’s worth the extra effort. I know what you are saying: 90 seconds is tough to come by in this post-Kardashian society. If only I could only drop one of them in hot oil…
“Post-Kardashian society”…HA! That’s great!
Those look great! I’ll bet they go great with your famous 9 layer dip that I keep hearing about.
