Believe it or not, tomatoes are in season. As Old Man Winter crushes us with temperatures dropping into the 50’s, one would think these precious, acidic gems would be all but gone. As my mom would say, “WRONG!” (Usually followed by her picking up a broom and chasing me through the house.) Stop by the Farmers’ Market and pick some up.
And, if you haven’t checked the side yard, the basil is still growing like crazy. The stuff won’t go away. I even attacked it with the Weedeater. It was screaming, “Please! Can’t we just make a room temperature salad”!?! Not a problem. Silky Mozzarella, Spicy Basil and Plump Cherry Tomatoes in a magic hot tub of olive oil, salt and pepper. If you added anything else, you would be robbing the others. Subtracted anything, it would be stealing.
