On Your Mark, Get Set, Here We Go

First tomato sprouts are coming up. Years back, I took a great two day workshop at Boggy Creek Farm. My group had a demo on how and why to start plants from seed. The main reason, “seed is cheap”.  They were right. Compared to $2.99 for a 6″ – 8″ plant, a pack of fifty seeds costs 99 cents. And, you know which are coming up and which aren’t. Replant the seedlings that show promise. Save some water in the process. I plant my seed in a mix of Peat Moss (8 parts), Perlite (4 parts), Vermiculite (4 parts) and Compost (.25 parts). Mix that all up with some H2O in a shallow tray and wait for the magic to happen.
