Great night at Eden East Farm on Sunday, the annual Tomato Dinner, benefitting Slow Food Austin. Some of the best restaurants in town turning out plates: Justine’s, Dai Due, Eden East, Confituras, Vespaio, Bufalina, Barley Swine and Hillside Farmacy.
The weather added some extra excitement. The seating started out under the big tree behind the farm stand. Hot, stagnant air. After the first plates arrived, so did mother nature. Jack-o-lantern sky, howl’n wind, sideways rain. We all retreated to Eden East’s covered roof. At this point, the conversation flowed easy. Fear of death will do that to a room.
